We understand that you may be concerned about the new COVID-19 guidelines in place and the impact this may have. Currently, we are not experiencing any disruption to our services and will continue to monitor the situation closely, and have the relevant plans in place in the event we face disruption.

We continue to provide guidance and implement certain protocols for our colleagues throughout our branch network and offices in line with Government Guidelines and Health Service Executive (HSE) recommendations. This includes extra hygiene products, cleaning procedures and social distancing measures, along with guidance on protective healthcare.

You can continue to carry out your day-to-day banking through our Branches, Contact Centre, Online at permanenttsb.ie and Open24.ie or our mobile banking app. In the interest of safety for our colleagues and customers, if you are displaying any symptoms you can avail of our automated telephone service, mobile app, online service, or contact centre instead of visiting a branch. In branch or mobile appointments continue to operate, but can also be completed over the phone rather than in person in the interest of safety.

We are also working closely with other banks and the Banking Payments Federation Ireland (BPFI) to best manage the provision of banking services if the situation escalates.

Temporary changes to cash services

At permanent tsb, our primary concern is the safety of our colleagues, customers and communities. We are regularly reviewing the capacity of our Frontline Team and our ability to provide a full banking service in as safe a manner as possible during the COVID-19 outbreak. In order to maintain service levels and support our colleagues, from Monday 18 May the majority of our branches will continue to operate at full service, with a small number of our branches moving temporarily to offer automated cash services only. 

In these impacted branches you can continue to lodge cash and cheques, and you can withdraw up to €1,500 per day, withdraw bank drafts, check your recent transactions and pay money onto your Permanent TSB Credit Card, all through our QuickBank Machines. You can also continue to withdraw cash from any ATM. You can find a list of these impacted branches as well as FAQs here.

Our Open24 Contact Centre remains open, but is experiencing high call volumes which may lead to you experiencing some delays in speaking to our agents. We have a dedicated phone line available for priority banking hours for elderly and vulnerable customers between 10.30am - 12pm Monday to Friday.

We would like to remind our customers that you can continue to carry out your day-to-day banking through permanenttsb.ie and Open24.ie or our mobile banking app. We would encourage you where possible to avail of these online services so that you can quickly access the help you need. Mortgage and Term Loan Payment Break Update

Permanent tsb is fully committed to supporting our customers during these uncertain times. We understand that customers may experience short term repayment difficulties with their Mortgages or Term Loans as a result of COVID-19. In line with the announcement from the Banking Payments Federation Ireland (BPFI) today, Permanent TSB will support customers with the ability to extend their payment break for a further three months, allowing a break of up to six months in total, where required. There is no requirement to contact us to seek a further extension at present, as we will contact customers before the expiry of their initial three month payment break to discuss the next steps.

The Taoiseach announced on Friday 27 March, strict guidelines for the people of Ireland which will form part of the next stage of the national response to the COVID-19 Emergency. The new significantly stronger measures are to further restrict the movement of people, and came into force from midnight on the 27 March for a period of two weeks, up to and including the 12 April.

The Government has issued a list of essential services, whose workers can still attend work. Banking, amongst others, has been confirmed by the Government as one of these ‘essential services’.

Priority Banking for the Elderly and Vulnerable

We want to ensure our colleagues, customers and communities are as safe as possible.

We have now introduced priority banking hours in branches for our elderly and vulnerable customers from 10.30am to 12pm, Monday to Friday. 

In line with these hours we also have a dedicated phone line in place for these customers if they contact us from home, the number to contact is 1800 218 000  or +353 1212 4004 from abroad.

For all our other customers we are asking you to plan your branch visits outside of these times, and please remember that many of our day-to-day banking services are available Online, on our Mobile Banking App. Find out more about our online banking services

Statement from Permanent TSB

The CEO of Permanent TSB, Jeremy Masding, along with the other Retail Bank CEOs, met with the Minister for Finance, Mr. Paschal Donohue, TD in the context of the current COVID-19 crisis.

Speaking after the meeting, Mr. Masding said:

"The COVID-19 situation is a Global and National crisis of unprecedented scale.

Permanent TSB is fully committed to supporting the national response to this crisis and to do all we can to support our customers, colleagues and communities through these very difficult times.

In addition to maintaining critical banking services for our customers, our aim is to ensure that we facilitate customers dealing with short term financial challenges arising from this crisis. We will work with both personal and small business customers on an individual basis and offer solutions that best suit their circumstances.

Our supports for customers at this time include:

Mortgage Loan Repayments

  • The bank will work with customers impacted by the COVID-19 crisis to agree appropriate payment break options based on the individual circumstances of the customer.
  • Such agreed treatments may include a temporary payment break on loan repayments of up to 3 months.

Day-to-day banking

Personal customers can apply for:

  • An overdraft increase for up to 6 months
  • A credit card limit increase for up to 6 months

SME customers can apply for: 

  • An increase of working capital facilities
  • Payment breaks on commercial mortgages

Mr. Masding added; "We are also acutely aware of supporting our colleagues, in particular, those working in our customer supporting roles. We have implemented protocols for our colleagues throughout our branch network and offices in line with World Health Organisation (WHO) and Health Service Executive (HSE) recommendations. This includes extra hygiene products and cleaning procedures, along with guidance on protective healthcare and travel advice. We will also be implementing further social distancing measures across all our locations."
