More than 150,000 votes cast as permanent tsb names Community Fund Partners for 2021
Permanent tsb has today named the 6 community groups and charities that have been selected by a nationwide public vote to share in approx. €300,000 from the Permanent TSB Community Fund. The selection process involved a record 150,000 votes from permanent tsb customers and the wider public – over 7 times the 20,000 votes recorded last year.
A key driver of the increased vote was the introduction of in-app voting through the permanent tsb app for the first time, complementing the existing ability to vote through the Bank’s website.
In-app voting accounted for over 100,000 of the 150,000 votes cast.
The vote selected two winners in each of the Bank’s 3 operational regions:
Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI)
Region South and East
Solas Cancer Support (South Eastern Cancer Foundation)
Irish Guide Dogs For The Blind
Region North and West
Breast Cancer Ireland
Oranmore Maree Coastal Search Unit
Eamonn Crowley, Permanent TSB Chief Executive, said:
“Permanent tsb has been serving communities throughout Ireland for over 200 years and we are really proud of our unique heritage with community roots as a building society and trustee savings bank.
Our Community Fund is designed to involve our customers and the communities that we serve in choosing the 6 winning community groups and charities.
We are delighted to see a record level of voting by our customers and the wider public to pick the winners. This highlights the strength of commitment to improving our communities that is shared by the Bank, our colleagues, our customers and everyone who took part in the vote.
As a demonstration of our commitment to communities, we aim to recognise a range of organisations that work so hard to make our communities better for everyone and to support them in that extremely valuable and commendable work. We wish them well and hope that the support they receive from the Permanent TSB Community Fund helps them to achieve even greater things in the year ahead.”
Courtnee Kyle, permanent tsb Corporate Social Responsibility & Communications Manager, said:
“Permanent tsb has a deep commitment to Responsible Business and supporting our communities by having a positive and meaningful impact.
Our Community Fund, backed by over 2,000 colleagues throughout the Bank, is a real statement of intent that we want to make a difference to the communities that we serve and to support organisations who work so hard for the people around them.
The Fund has had an enormous impact since we launched it in 2019 and we look forward to working alongside our 6 new Community Fund partners this year,.”
Previous beneficiaries of the permanent tsb Community Fund include the Jack and Jill Foundation; Mallow Search and Rescue; the Arch Club; Mayo Roscommon Hospice; Milford Care Centre and Aoife’s Clown Doctors.
The Community Fund is made up of amounts raised by staff members, which are matched by a contribution from the Bank.
