permanent tsb ambassador, Olympic Champion Kellie Harrington, and wife Mandy Loughlin have today launched the Bank’s joint digital current account, making it easy for new customers to open a joint current account digitally via the permanent tsb mobile app.

This new release is part of the bank’s €150m investment in its digital banking services to deliver faster and easier-to-use desktop and mobile app offerings.

New customers wishing to open a joint current account can now avail of the same fast and seamless digital experience as our award winning individual digital current account on the permanent tsb app.

It builds on a programme of digital banking enhancements over the past year that include:

  • An improved Open24.ie online banking service, offering customers a modern, simpler, and quicker desktop experience.
  • Faster bill payments, easier money transfer and an enhanced customer-friendly experience when managing payees, standing orders, transferring funds and paying household bills.
  • Enabling new customers to complete credit card and/or overdraft application in minutes through the app.
  • An enhanced modern, scalable and resilient digital banking platform to support the significant growth in customers opting to avail of our digital channels for their everyday banking needs.
  • A new customer centric digital mortgage application journey that combines the best of technology with a personal touch.
  • A digital application process for new SME customers to enable SMEs to complete the majority of account opening requirements online.

These latest changes to the bank’s Digital Banking offering will be followed by further enhancements to the permanent tsb mobile app throughout 2023. These will include the introduction of a number of new digital servicing options for customers including self-service card management.

permanent tsb Chief Technology Officer Tom Hayes said:

“We are putting a lot of thought, backed by customer research, into making our digital channels including the desktop platform and our mobile app more efficient and easier to use. The launch of our joint application process for our award winning digital current account journey on our mobile app is another big step forward in enhancing our offering for joint current account customers.

We know it can be a real challenge for customers and couples to find the time to attend a branch together to open a new account. In launching this journey, we’re providing customers with a seamless, secure and efficient process that supports them in opening their new joint current account, via their mobile, at a time and place that suits them best.”

The Bank also launched an enhanced online current account opening process for its SME customers last year, making it easier and faster for certain business customers to get their accounts up and running by facilitating the majority of account opening requirements to be met online. This enhanced process is available to sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
