A new smishing (text) scam has been in circulation. These text messages state that unusual activity has been detected on your account. A sample of these texts read:

"Permanent Tsb: We have detected unusual activity on your account. Please login to verify: www.Open-24-site/online".

The links provided in these messages link to a phishing site that is branded similar to that of our Open24 website where customers are asked to enter their Open24 number, password and 6 digit access code.

What should you do if you receive suspicious SMS?

  • Do not click on the link that is in the SMS.
  • Do not divulge any credit/debit card/account log-on information.
  • Do not respond to the message.
  • Regarding genuine authorisation codes received from permanent tsb via SMS please ensure that you read and fully understand the text message before proceeding
  • If you have already clicked the link and/or sent your details, contact us as soon as possible on +353 (1) 669 5851. We will cancel your Open24 number and arrange a new one for you.

Please Note: We will never ask you to divulge full security credentials. If you have responded to one of these texts please contact our Fraud Department on +353 (1) 669 5851.
