First Steps

Important information

Our Bereavement Services Department is currently experiencing high volumes which are resulting in prolonged delays. We sincerely apologise for this. If you have sent in a request we will do our best to get to it as soon as possible. For urgent queries please contact our dedicated Open24 Bereavement Line on 01 212 4077.

We understand that this is a difficult time for you and that sorting out financial arrangements is the last thing on your mind. When you are ready, we are here to help you arrange the accounts of our late customer. If you can't find an answer to your query, please contact our dedicated Bereavement Services team.

Register the death

One of the most important documents that you will need through this process is the death certificate. To get this, you will need to register the death. In Ireland, you should register the death as soon as possible, but no later than 3 months after passing. You can register a death at any Registrar of Births, Marriages and Death.

Get a certified copy of the death certificate

We will need other documents to help you along the way. To get started, the best thing to do is fill out our Bereavement Notification Form. We can help you take the next steps, which may include releasing funds to pay for the funeral.
