We are proud to announce that we are the first bank worldwide to add an extra layer of anti-fraud protection to our banking app to further protect our customers (Version 10.2).

This new opt-in feature offers much needed protection against criminals who trick customers into sharing security information by sending deceptive messages with links - something PTSB will never do.

What is PTSB Protect?

While we can’t completely stop criminals from targeting our customers, this new feature can help prevent some fraudulent activity. This added feature is designed to guard you against criminals who might try to trick you into clicking on harmful links or sharing sensitive details.

When you enable this new feature on your mobile device, any incoming potentially risky texts or fraudulent websites will be identified and flagged to you where they are present on our known fraud list. We encourage you to take advantage of this added layer of security, available to all our customers. For details on how to enable this new service, please see our how to guide below.

How it works

  • Our PTSB Protect software maintains a list of known fraudulent phone numbers, websites and links.
  • By opting-in to this feature on your mobile device, it allows PTSB Protect to utilise pre-existing technology on your mobile device to detect fraudulent links and numbers.
  • If PTSB Protect identifies these sources, it will promptly notify you.

Please note: this new feature may appear slightly different on Android and iOS operating systems. These differences are due to the unique characteristics of Android and iOS. We've optimised this feature for each platform to provide the best user experience.

How it works on an Android device

  • Incoming text messages containing links to websites will be scanned against the PTSB Protect blocklist.
  • If the link matches a confirmed fraudulent link, a pop out warning message will be displayed on screen, followed by your SMS conversations turning distinctive red in colour, ensuring clear differentiation from genuine messages.
