Will my Ulster Bank Current Account transfer automatically to PTSB?

Your Ulster Bank Current Account will not transfer automatically to PTSB as current accounts are not included in the transaction agreement. However, PTSB welcomes the opportunity to look after all of your every day banking needs.

How do I open a Current Account with PTSB?

PTSB offers all Ulster Bank personal customers an easy-to-use digital current account opening process via the PTSB App. The app is available to download from the app store by searching PTSB. Click here to find out more.

When do I need to switch my current account to PTSB if I choose you as a provider?

If you are an Ulster Bank Current Account customer, while there is no immediate action required of you, PTSB welcomes you to switch your Current Account to us at any stage. How do I switch my current account to PTSB?

The first step in switching is to open a PTSB Current Account. If you want to avail of our switching service please see here for more information on what we can help you with and the items you will have to complete, for example, transfer of your salary. Our Switch team will help you to identify the best date/time to switch your account.

Do I need to make an appointment to switch my Current Account?

There are a number of options available to you for switching your Current Account to PTSB:
1. You can open your account in-app and when you receive your “Welcome” email this will provide further information on how you can switch your account with our Switch Team.
2. You can open your account in-app and if you decide to complete the process, once you have your IBAN and new debit card number, you can then change any subscriptions, Direct Debits and any incoming credits that you have.
3. You can make an appointment with your local branch where your branch advisor will open your current account and go through your documents and provide copies to our Switch team who will assist you with the switching process.

What happens to my Ulster Bank Current Account if I do nothing?

Ulster Bank have announced a phased withdrawal from the Republic of Ireland. While there will be no immediate impact ot your current account with Ulster Bank, you will need to find alternative banking arrangements and Ulster Bank will write to you in due course.

Do my Direct Debits transfer automatically when I switch my account?

During the switching process, your old bank will contact the companies you pay by Direct Debit, and will advise them of your new Current Account details, although there may be occasions where you will need to contact companies to ensure they have updated your payment details. If you hold a Direct Debit with any companies outside of the State, or if you pay subscriptions via your Debit Card, you will need to contact these companies and give them your new account/card details. Do I need to notify my employer if I switch my current account?

Yes. For regular payments you are in receipt of, such as salary or social welfare payments, you need to complete a 'Credit Transfer Form', and send it to the relevant individuals/companies that pay into your account so that they are aware of your new bank account details. Find out more here.

I have a personal loan with Ulster Bank. Do I need to reapply for this facility or can I switch it without proving repayment ability?

Yes, if you wish to move your term loan to PTSB you will have to apply for the loan facility with PTSB which will require an application. Lending criteria, terms and conditions will apply. I have a credit card with Ulster Bank. Can I switch my credit card to PTSB?

Yes, you can switch your credit card to PTSB. You will need to apply for a new PTSB Visa Credit Card and we can then complete a balance transfer to clear your previous credit card. Once Balance Transfer is complete, you will have to contact Ulster Bank to request closure of your Credit Card. You'll enjoy a great introductory offer on balance transfers and purchases with PTSB. Will my Ulster Bank Deposit Account transfer automatically to PTSB?

Your Ulster Bank Deposit Account will not transfer automatically to PTSB as Deposit Accounts are not included in the transaction agreement. However, PTSB welcomes the opportunity to look after all of your savings and investment needs.

PTSB offers all Ulster Bank Deposit Account customers the opportunity to open an account in one of our nationwide branches. PTSB also has a variety of Deposit Accounts available online which you can open once registered for Open24 online banking.

If you are a Sole Trader, Partnership or a Limited Company, you can apply for a Business Current Account through our online application process. How do I switch my Business Current Account to PTSB?

The first step in switching is to open a Business Current account. If you are a Sole Trader, Partnership or a Limited Company, you can apply for a Business Current Account through our online application process. However, our team are on standby to assist any business type with switching or opening a new Business Current Account.

Does PTSB charge a subscription fee to use it's Online Banking Services for Business customers?

No, we do not charge a subscription fee.

What digital banking services does PTSB offer to Business customers?

PTSB offers a range of services to Business customers via our online business banking platform, Business24. Business24 gives you access to your accounts 24/7. Log on from your desktop, laptop or tablet and enjoy the range of self service banking options designed to save you time. Click here for more information.


PTSB does not currently offer a mobile banking app for Business customers, however we are always reviewing our service offering to support our customer's needs.

How long will it take to switch a Business Current account?

Your old bank will complete the switching process within 10 working days of the Switch Start Date and we'll stay in touch with you every step of the way to keep you up to date with what's going on. Does PTSB offer a Business Credit Card?

At PTSB, we regularly review our proposition to ensure we are meeting our customers needs. While we don't currently offer a Business Credit Card, we constantly review our cards proposition. We do offer a Business Debit Card with our Business Current Account which offers you convenience and added security.

Does PTSB offer the same SEPA payment service as Ulster Bank?

Yes, PTSB is part of the Single European Payment Area (SEPA). Under SEPA rules, timeframes for the processing of payments within the SEPA area are standardised once all the required transaction information is provided.

Does PTSB offer a payroll payment service?

Our Bulk Payment facility allows you to pay bulk credit transfers or collect bulk direct debits. Credit transfers can include paying wages or payments to suppliers and collection of bulk direct debits can include collecting subscriptions and membership fees. Does PTSB offer the same cash and cheque lodgement services as Ulster Bank?

Ulster Bank Business Current Accounts will not transfer automatically to PTSB as Business Current Accounts are not included in the transaction agreement. Do PTSB operate branches in Northern Ireland or do they have an associated sister bank in the North?

PTSB are currently operational in the Republic of Ireland and at present have no affiliation to any other banks in Northern Ireland.
